The inaugural International Veterans Art Exhibition (IVAE18) hosted by the Australian National Veterans Arts Museums (ANVAM) is being held alongside the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 over the period 20-27 October 2018. IVAE18 is a free exhibition showcasing art by 18 veterans from Invictus Games participating nations.

Exhibiting Veteran Artists

Thank you and congratulations to all veteran artists who submitted artwork for IVAE18. A total of 63 submissions were received from seven countries (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Poland, Ukraine, United Kingdom and United States). Selected veteran artists have been notified.

Panel members were presented with a difficult task. They were equally challenged and moved by the works submitted. The 18 artworks selected represent each of the seven countries and include a range of mediums, stories and service.

Exhibition Background

IVAE18 theme, Make your Mark, is consistent with the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 theme and ANVAM’s logo encouraging veterans to ‘make a mark’ and engage in art.

IVAE18 will:

  • be a leader in creating a global movement to unite and support veterans and families through arts engagement;
  • recognise and empower veterans through their stories; and
  • create an enduring legacy highlighting the benefits of arts engagement.

IVAE18 aims to provide veteran artist the opportunity to:

  • Tell their story
  • Be an ambassador for their country
  • Showcase their national culture and identity
  • Promote the veteran arts genre
  • Showcase veteran arts to the world
  • Support veteran arts in their own community
