FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE FESTIVAL OF VETERAN ARTS (FOVA) IS BACK FOR A SECOND YEAR
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - THURSDAY 5TH DECEMBER - The Australian National Veterans Arts Museum (ANVAM) proudly announces the second Festival of Veteran Artists (FOVA25), running from March 21 to 30, 2025, across Melbourne’s Southbank and Arts Precinct. Building on the momentum of a highly successful 2024 festival,, FOVA25 returns under the theme ‘TOGETHER,’ with an expanded program dedicated to celebrating and uniting the Veteran Community through creative expression.
With 600 attending this year’s nine-day event, FOVA25 once again invites veterans and families, and the broader public to experience the unifying power of creativity. FOVA25’s expanded program offers a dynamic mix of public events, exclusive workshops designed for veterans, and unique performances. Veterans and their communities are encouraged to get involved, connect, and share in this celebration of creative expression and camaraderie—a platform to highlight and honour the stories, skills, and resilience of the Veteran Community through the arts.
Key Events for Military and Community Engagement:
FOVA Family Colour Parade – A vibrant display of community and creative spirit
Art Exhibitions – Including March to Art: TOGETHER, Victoria Barracks exhibition, and Veterans Public Arts Trail.
Summit – Insightful panels on veteran mental health, creativity, and entrepreneurship
Variety Performance – Celebrating veteran artistic achievements through performance
Live Music & Last Post Service – Honoring those who served, with music and reflection
Veteran Community-Only Events:
Creative Workshops – Dedicated sessions in visual arts, music, writing, and more, led by Veteran Artists exclusive to veterans and their families
Open House at Waller House – A private opportunity to explore the iconic works of Napier and Christian Waller, Victorian artists who created cultural landmarks across Melbourne
There will also be an array of online and virtual opportunities for those outside of Victoria or who cannot attend in person.
The Festival Director and ANVAM Founder, Tanja Johnston, explains “ANVAM has built a strong community over the past ten years through the arts. FOVA is an inclusive way for the Veteran Community from across Australia to come together to celebrate and share in our creative expression and achievements.”
