Arts Programs

Make Your Mark

ANVAM supports veterans and families where they are at. This means we customise programs to support your needs. Programs are designed by experts, who are supported by ANVAM’s network of veteran arts mentors and other specialists as required.

ANVAM’s work with the veteran community is via referral from Defence, Open Arms or in partnership with the ex-service community and through expression of interest (EOI).

Transition

On your first day in the services you began preparing for transition out. Transition is a key period for many veterans, which is important to take the time to get right.

ANVAM is able to engage with those undertaking transition to provide facilitated programs designed to build confidence, introduce veterans to the veteran arts community and prepare veterans for the emotional challenges post-service.

Exhibitions

ANVAM stages an annual exhibition of veterans arts. Artists are invited to participate in the exhibition for an expression of interest.

Exhibitions provide an opportunity for exhibiting artists to showcase their work in a public setting, and to tell some of their story.

Participation in an exhibition is designed to support veterans wellbeing, and is a form of commemoration for the service and sacrifice of the veteran community.

Family Programs

Facilitated art making can be an opportunity for families of all sizes, make-up and ages to come together in a fun shared experience.

ANVAM’s family programs have been run in partnership with other ex-service organisations (ESO) bringing families together with other families in a local community environment.

Contact Defence Family Member and Support (DFMS) or your local ESO about ANVAM running a family program.

Peer Mentoring

The veteran arts community is a dynamic and growing space. Across the community veteran artists often come together to collaborate, support each other, or simply share in a love of the arts.

ANVAM is well placed to provide peer mentoring for veteran artists. This can take a range of forms depending on need.
