Mark Johnston (Chairman & Director)

 

Mark graduated from RMC Duntroon into the Australian Intelligence Corps. He served in Bougainville before moving to Melbourne on discharge. Mark is a management consultant, working in Defence and utilities. Mark has had a longstanding and personal interest in the arts and military history.

Mark has been Chairman and Director since 2015.

Mike Godfrey (Treasurer)

Mike is a digital artist, experienced in graphic design, television production, mobile media and web design around community engagement. Mike is also an IT project management consultant and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for management consultancy, XKG.

Mike was ANVAM’s founding Secretary in 2015 and has been Treasurer since 2021.

Dominik Kul (Head of Operations)

Dominik graduated from RMC Duntroon into the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps. He completed his army career in 2015 in Melbourne, establishing a management consultancy delivering services to Defence, logistic and ICT industries. Dominik is interested in digital imagery and creative writing, in particular poetry.

Dominik has been an Executive Director since 2015.

Tanja Johnston (Head of Arts Programs)

Tanja is ANVAM’s founder and a multidisciplinary artist, arts educator, art therapist. She specialises in supporting the veteran community (including current and former members of the ADF), emergency service personnel and families, facilitating arts based engagement and recovery programs.

Tanja has worked with veterans in a hospital clinic setting since 2003, and was instrumental in shaping the ADF ARRTS Program through engagement with Defence prior to, and then as a consultant on, the initial programs. Tanja was recognised for her contribution to the Defence and veteran community with the inaugural ADM Women-In-Defence People and Culture Award 2019.

Tanja has been an Executive Director since 2015.

Amy Blacker CSC

 

Amy is a retired senior officer of the Royal Australian Navy. She served in numerous warships, on deployments and in multiple staff roles. With a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature she has maintained her creative agency through writing and the occasional painting. Amy has experience as a management consultant and more recently as an Australian Public Servant.

Amy has been a Non-Executive Director since 2023.

Associate Professor Rowan Story AM RFD

Rowan is a retired senior officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). He is a surgeon in private practice, has legal training and is a practicing artist.

Rowan has been a Non-Executive Director since 2018.

Greg Yorke AM CSC

Greg is a current serving senior officer in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). He has served on a number of warships, with numerous staff roles including reporting to the Deputy Chief of Navy (DCN) on matters related to naval personnel and projects in the Defence People Group. Greg has previously worked as a management consultant.

Greg has been a Non-Executive Director since 2017.

Nell Olsson-Young (Secretary)

Nell is an experienced arts professional, with 5 years working as a volunteer at the Heide Museum of Modern Art during which she looked after and learnt the history of various artworks across their different exhibitions. Nell also worked for The Arts Centre Melbourne in 2015, and possesses a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe University.

Nell has been volunteering with ANVAM as financial manager since 2018 and Secretary since 2021.
